Brief Introduction of Geocell Confinement System
Geocell Confinement System--also known as Cellular Confinement System(CCS), it is a kind of three-dimensional network structure shaped by high-strength HDPE (high density polyethylene) sheets through ultrasonic welding of high strength. The depth of the geocells as well as the size of each cellular unit can vary as per design requirements. The surface of geocells are smooth or textured, the textured geocells increase soil-geocell wall friction. Geocells can be perforated or non-perforated. If the depth of geocell is over 10cm, the geocell can be perforated, the geocell wall is punctured to assist in immediate dissipation of developed porewater pressures due to increased stresses within the infill of the individual cells.

Geocell Confinement System Characteristic
The geocell ecological slope protection saves 20 ~ 40% of the project cost compared with the common protection; Compared with the general gravity retaining wall, the reinforced soil retaining wall saves 10 ~ 15% of the project cost; It has the advantages of restoring ecology and greening the environment. Flexible raft foundation and pile raft composite foundation save 8 ~ 10% of the project cost compared with the common foundation treatment methods; The technology of abutment flexible approach slab can treat the disease of "vehicle jumping at the bridge head". In the loess area where there is a lack of gravel, compared with the rigid approach slab, it can save about 30% of the project cost and 5 ~ 10% of the cost in general areas; Geocell not only has better treatment effect than ordinary plane reinforced materials, but also saves 7% of the project cost.
Application
Once the load acts on the subgrade, a wedge-shaped active area will be formed under the load, which will be squeezed through the transition area, so as to uplift the passive area. In other words, the bearing capacity of the foundation is determined by the shear force along the slip line and the forces moving the active, transition and passive areas. The real process of the above principles can be clearly realized not only on the sand base, but also on the soft foundation highway, but its formation rate is slower than that on the sand. Even better subgrade materials cannot avoid lateral movement. General highway subgrade is several meters higher than the ground, so it is not easy to absorb water and churn, but long-term settlement still exists. The reason is that rainwater infiltration, material loss and base subsidence are some of the reasons. Under the action of long-term rolling and vibration force of wheel load, the lateral displacement of materials to both sides of subgrade section is undeniably another very important reason. Taking highways at all levels in our province as an example, it can be clearly felt that the pavement has been pressed out of an "s" shaped ditch belt on the main carriageway of the road. Some expressways are no exception. The bumping of cars on the carriageway is obviously stronger than that on the overtaking belt, especially in the road bridge connection section (commonly known as "bridgehead jumping"). This kind of ditch subgrade settlement is a typical example of lateral slip of subgrade materials.
Laying method
Precautions for geocell construction
1. The hole forming position of the anchor rod must be located above the diagonal of the cell to ensure that the cell clock can be transmitted to the anchor rod.
2. The cells must be completely connected with each other to form a piece and connect as a whole.
3. In order to prevent the scouring of water flow on the cell, a waterproof ridge is built on the top of the slope to prevent rainwater from pouring into the cell from the top of the slope and dredge the place where the drainage is not unblocked in time.
